Job Description and Duties
Under the general direction of a Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisory), within a designated multi-county area, the incumbent works independently in the North Central Region’s (NCR) Habitat Conservation (HabCon) Program and is responsible for completing Environmental Review and Permitting tasks in accordance with the law, regulations and Department policies, guidelines and procedures pertaining to the protection of biological resources. Tasks are related to the following functions: Endangered Species Act Program permit processing and coordination with other regulatory agencies and stakeholders; Lake and Streambed Alteration Program notification processing and the evaluation of potential impacts of water development projects upon fish and wildlife resources; California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) trustee agency consultation, responsible agency permit issuance, and lead agency environmental compliance; Natural Community Conservation Planning agency coordination and permit development; and grant management for conservation, research and land acquisition purposes.
Working Conditions
The position is located at the North Central Region Headquarters Office in Rancho Cordova and is only few hundred yards from the American River and Nimbus Fish Hatcheries.  The office is located on the scenic American River steps from the American River Bike Trail, offers free parking, and is in close proximity to light rail service; and provides opportunity to work with great employees who have a common interest in nature.
