Description
Support the Sustainability Manager by designing and implementing sustainability education initiatives. Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in sustainability, communications, education, science or other related field preferred.
Essential Functions
Plan, design and implement specialized informational programs related to the City's Sustainability program.
Conduct education to improve recycling compliance within the commercial sector.
Conduct education on the negative impacts of fats, oils and greases to our wastewater and storm water systems.
Identify sustainability-related education needs among business and community members.
Develop and implement community-based social marketing campaigns for behavior change.
Act as a general information resource, speaking with individuals and groups to promote the City's Sustainability program goals.
Serve as a liaison between the City and community, business and public-sector organizations.
Prepare and distribute pamphlets, brochures and electronic literature.
Conduct on-site trainings for community and business organizations, as requested.
Arrange and coordinate community involvement events, workshops, training seminars.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in sustainability, communications, education, science or other related field;
Two (2) years' experience working in the areas of education, sustainability practices, community outreach and/or program management.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License.

Knowledge of principles and practices of sustainability and methods to encourage behavior change.
Knowledge of communication techniques, needs assessments and public speaking.
Ability to coordinate and facilitate meetings.
Knowledge of basic graphic design
Ability to meet with business owners on-site, assess educations needs and barriers to implementing sustainability best practices.
Ability to develop and deliver effective education to business owners and community members.
Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to prepare displays for presentation of visual and written materials.
Ability to work in a team situation with individuals of various backgrounds.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities to meet planned outcomes and deadlines.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals, whether members of the public, coworkers, or community groups, from diverse groups and backgrounds.
Ability to work some evenings and weekend events.
