Job Description

The Forest Service will be attending the 2016 Society of American Foresters (SAF) national convention in Madison, Wisconsin on November 2-6, 2016, and will be accepting applications online through USAJobs and onsite during a portion of the conference event. This is a recruitment event for Pathways positions that will be available online and during the national convention. Onsite applications will be accepted at the Society of American Foresters (SAF) national convention in Madison, Wisconsin from 2 p.m. to 7p.m. on November 2nd, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on November 3rd. When applying onsite, please bring two complete copies of your application package. Please refer to the ‘Required Documents’ section of this vacancy announcement. If you are unable to attend the convention, please apply online via USAJOBS from October 3-7.

The Recent Graduates Program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs.
This position will be filled at the GS-07 grade level with promotion potential to the GS-11.

Duties
At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. The duties may include, but are not limited to:
Assists in coordinating and reviewing the annual operating plans and budgets. 
Assists in developing environmental analysis reports concerning resources activity. 
Assists in conducting routine environmental studies and evaluations linking a variety of resources, such as social economics, land, air, water, timber, recreation, wildlife, fisheries, and/or special management areas.
Assists in developing environmental analysis reports concerning resources activity. 
Assists in field reconnaissance, collects, and analyzes data needed for preparation of environmental documents.
Gathers and reviews subject matter documents and includes the required information in the NEPA source document. 
Assists in providing input for the unit’s interdisciplinary planning teams.
Assists interdisciplinary teams carrying out routine environmental studies and evaluations to determine the consequences of various actions or events, i.e., forest planning projects, on the environment.
Participates in public relations events and field trips.

Qualifications
Applicants are required to meet the eligibility requirements of the Recent Graduate program, as described below, in order to be considered for this position.
Candidates must meet all the eligibility and qualification requirements by the closing date of the announcement. The minimum qualification requirements for each grade level of this vacancy announcement are described below:

RECENT GRADUATES PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible, applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
Completed all requirements for an associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational, or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution within the previous two (2) years; OR
Individuals who, due to military service obligation, were precluded from applying to the Recent Graduate Program during any portion of the 2-year eligibility period described above shall have a full two-year period of eligibility upon release or discharge from active duty. This eligibility period cannot extend more than 6 years from the date on which the requirement for the academic degree or certificate was received.

You must complete all degree requirements within four months of the application closing date to be considered a Recent Graduate. Academic documentation must accompany your application package to validate your upcoming graduation date.
