NRDC is seeking an intern to work in our Administration/Facilities Department in our NY office. The intern will work with the Director of Facilities & Sustainability as well as the Sustainability Manager to help with tasks related to the sustainable operations strategy. These include synthesizing and analyzing data, crafting solutions and executing them. Additionally, they will communicate NRDC’s initiatives both internally and externally. They will be responsible for drafting blogs, creating content for NRDC’s website and drafting lecture and presentation materials for the department and external speaking engagement in an effort to effectively communicate sustainability strategies and successes. The candidate should be strong in project management and exhibit strong organizational, analytical and communication skills. The candidate will work with Facilities Managers in all seven offices and the Sustainability Manager in Seattle.
The internship is for Fall/Winter 2016. Hours are generally 9:30am to 5:30pm, start and end dates and other scheduling details are negotiable. This is a paid internship
Assist the Director of Facilities & Administration with various research projects
Assist Sustainability Manager in various tasks related to ongoing efforts with LEED and the Living Building Challenge
Develop multi-media content (press releases, brochures, fact sheets, presentations etc.) for internal and external audiences
Compile and maintain confidential information and working knowledge of major concepts, assignments, projects, etc., directly related to our sustainable initiativesQualifications
Excellent writing and communications skills
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required; timely completion and attention to detail.
Technologically savvy plus a proven mastery of Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
Excellent knowledge of sustainability strategies
Knowledge of the Living Building Challenge & LEED requirements
LEED AP preferred
