Summary
As an Environmental Protection Specialist, you will be assigned to the Safety and Environmental Management Branch, Office of Facilities Management and function as a trainee to become the technical program expert for environmental management/health and safety issues for the region.

This position is located in Public Building Services, Office of Regional Commissioner, Facilities Management and Mountain Plains Service Center Division in Lakewood, Colorado.

This position is being announced under the Pathways Recent Graduates Program. This program affords developmental experiences in the Federal Government intended to promote possible careers in the civil service to individuals who have recently graduated from qualifying educational institutions or programs. Successful applicants are placed in a dynamic, developmental program with the potential to lead to a civil service career in the Federal Government. The program lasts for 1 year (unless the training requirements of the position warrant a longer and more structured training program). Duties
As a GS-07 Environmental Protection Specialist, you will assist higher level specialist in: 
Serving as the point of contact for facility/site environmental compliance, health and safety, occupational health and safety and industrial hygiene programs. 
Executing field evaluations and site surveys/assessments for facility/site environmental compliance.
Reviewing program areas and associated issues for renovation and construction projects and feasibility studies. 
Management and implementation of environmental programs such as including but not limited to: (1) lead paint management programs, (2)lead in water,(3) radon gas management program (4) drinking water quality program, (5) environmental compliance audits,(6) above ground and underground storage tanks, (7) asbestos management, (8) PCB management, (9) air permits, (10), coordination with EPA and state environmental quality agencies.
Assisting senior staff in drafting regional guidelines, policies, technical guides, program and procedures related to environmental programs.
