The Environment& Conservation team, as part of the Corporate Citizenship division, is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive and integrated set of global strategies supporting Disney’s environmentally responsible practices and reputation. This includes providing overall vision and direction to the Company’s environmental efforts. Furthermore, Disney’s Environment & Conservation team ensures that environmental stewardship is integrated into the operating practices and decision filters of all TWDC businesses.

Specifically, the Environment & Conservation team:

  • Identifies environmental issues and opportunities and develops Company-wide strategy
  • Provides cross-Company leadership, support and coordination of activities and policies related to environmental stewardship and responsibility
  • Develops and implements communications strategy in coordination with other departments
  • Coordinates the measurement and reporting of environmental footprint
  • Acts as a center of excellence on environmental topics, new technologies and trends
  • Monitors Disney’s reputation and adjusts strategy as needed
  • Liaises with outside stakeholders in the environmental community

The Operations Team is responsible for day-to-day interface with all business units across the company to support the integration of environmental initiatives and programs. This includes all Transportation Demand Management operations and customer service, the execution of events, promotions, fairs and annual events related to Environment & Conservation. The Operations Team is the source for implementation of all employee engagement programs related to the Company’s environment and conservation work.


A Day in the Life…
This internship is focused on employee engagement and outreach around Disney’s employee sustainability commitment, “Environmentality”. It exists as part of the “operations” team within Corporate Environment & Conservation, which also includes a measurement and reporting team. This intern will interface with TWDC business units worldwide in supporting their Environmentality efforts and programs.

Projects include:

  • Assist in the maintenance of our internal social media platforms, including Yammer and Backlot
    • Help develop and maintain an internal social media strategy for E&C
  • Help develop and maintain a Green Team Backlot site to create an “online community”
  • Develop content for and publish the Environmentality News newsletter
  • Assist in developing strategy and approach for ongoing engagement of the Environmentality Leadership Network
  • Maintain and update E&C awards matrix
  • Support employee engagement programs and events
  • Support table events and other operational activities
  • Identify and communicate streamlining and automation opportunities
  • Recommend program enhancements
  • Assist with evaluating and prioritizing
  • Assist with developing various action plans
  • Provide feedback on existing programs
  • Help develop tools and resources that provide program enhancements

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of environmental initiatives
  • Emphasis on environmental studies, marketing and/or communication
  • Working knowledge of mail delivery services such as Constant Contact or Mail Chimp
  • Proficiency in Photoshop or similar tools
  • A self-starter: ability to take initiative and proactively problem solve
  • Ability to work with limited supervision
  • Enthusiastic attitude and strong work ethic

Required Education

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, Environmental studies or closely related field

Additional Information

  • The approximate dates of this internship are late August 2017 through early January 2018
  • Candidate must be available to approximately 29-40 hours per week for the duration of the internship
  • Able to provide own housing and transportation in the Glendale, CA area
  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program
  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
