Job Description

We are currently seeking Environmental Specialist to join our dynamic team in Englewood Cliffs, NJ as part of the Regulatory & Environmental Affairs Team.


Environmental Specialist will be responsible for assisting managing product sustainability certification programs and rulemaking of sustainability standards; communicating with certification bodies for a better understanding of certification programs and standards as well as efficient certification procedures; managing corporate greenhouse gas inventory; and supporting corporate sustainability programs.


  • Manage Product Sustainability Certifications Program
    • Support product sustainability certification programs to obtain the world’s first certifications.
    • Communicate with certification bodies (UL, CSA) for a better understanding and validating procedure.
    • Ensure products meet the product sustainability standards.
    • Coordinate the press release of certification and support marketing team for greener products.
  • Manage rulemaking of product sustainability standards
    • Represent LG Electronics as a working group member.
    • Participate in working groups including AHAM/CSA/UL sustainability standards and IEEE 1680 standards.
    • Develop product sustainability standards for corporate sustainable products.
    • Submit comments/opinions and vote to publish the standards.
    • Monitor any updates/changes and report progress to HQ.
  • Manage Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT)
    • Communicate with EPEAT organization to resolve any issues including verifications, product registries, desk reviews, clarification of conformity assessment protocols, and HQ’s opinions etc.
    • Monitor and update clarification and interpretation of criteria in the IEEE 1680.1 & 1680.3 standards.
    • Manage EPEAT verification history and assist TV/MNT/Mobile divisions in HQ.
    • Coordinate overall of verification process.
  • Manage Worldwide Environmental Regulatory Compliance Solutions (WERCS)
    • Manage internal account users as a company administrator.
    • Monitor any changes/updates on WERCS and inform to account users.
    • Communicate with UL to resolve any issues for product registration.
  • Manage corporate greenhouse gas inventory
    • Understand the technology of GHG accounting standards and protocols and manage GHG inventory.
    • Monitor GHG accounting standards and protocols updating and check with LGE’s inventory management plan.
    • Manage and monitor energy consumption data and basic information of subsidiaries.
    • Analyze and review scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions for U.S. corporate .
    • Manage and collect utility invoices and accurate data from each subsidiary and p repare for 3rd verification .
  • Support EPA MOU activity/ corporate sustainability program/ CSR activity
    • Support EPA MOU for sustainability voluntary activities such as environmentally preferable purchasing, EPA WasteWise Program, and EPA SmartWay Transporters, etc.
    • Research and update annual LGE’s corporate sustainability rankings.
    • Support to improve LGE’s ratings & evaluations of LGE’s policy by stakeholders.
    • Support to review LGE’s reports, such as sustainability and environmental reports.


  • Bachelor degree is required; a concentration is environmental science or engineeringis highly preferred
  • Recent graduates with internship experience are encouraged to apply
  • Must be results oriented in a fast paced changing environment
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively (clear, concise, accurate) both orally and in writing to non-English speaking colleagues.

  • Must be analytical and have problem solving skills – ability to understand complex issues quickly, analyze the data and develop appropriate solutions.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
