ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Responsibilities:
This position will be filled by an individual with expertise in
environmental technology. The position will be appointed with an
initial teaching/research split of about 75%/25%.
Duties
include: (1) planning and teaching of two to three undergraduate
courses in the proposed Bachelor of Science in Environmental Technology
curriculum; (2) advising graduate and undergraduate students; (3)
developing an integrative research program in some aspect of environmental
technology; and (4) participation in the continuing education and
service programs of the Department of Forestry.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental
Technology, or related field is required. All disciplines of Environmental
Technology will be considered, including environmental monitoring,
pollution prevention and control, waste management, brownfield management,
emergency response management, environmental safety and health,
decontamination and decommissioning,
The
successful applicant must have the ability to teach and publish
research in environmental technology, be effective in written and
oral communication, be willing to work with undergraduate and graduate
students, be willing to cooperate with other environmental technology
programs in the area and with state and federal agencies, and be
willing to cooperate with other members of the faculty to achieve
the objectives of the Environmental Technology program. Demonstrated
teaching experience, published research, and related field experience
is desirable.
Employment,
Salary, and Benefits: This is an EPA (Exempt from State Personnel
Act) tenure-track 9- or 12-month full-time position at the Assistant
Professor level in the Department of Forestry in the College of
Natural Resources of NC State University. The person selected will
become an instrumental member of a new program offering the B.S.
degree in Environmental Technology (ET) at NC State University -
North Carolina's Land-Grant Research I University. The ET program
was formulated to provide both a broad education and hands-on technical
training in cutting edge Environmental Technologies including the
monitoring of Air, Water, Soil, Solid-Toxic-Hazardous-Nuclear Waste;
land use planning, environmental impact assessment, environmental
economics, law and ethics. Specific terms of employment will be
contingent on the experience of the successful applicant. Salary
will be commensurate with experience, and will be competitive at
the Assistant Professor level. Benefits include employee/employer

optional group life insurance, and other benefit programs.

LECTURER

Position
Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be responsible for
the planning, implementation and teaching of the many laboratory
and field based "practicums" in the Environmental Technology curriculum.
Duties include being the primary instructor in the ET labs, and
equipping, operating, and maintaining the Environmental Technology
laboratory. This is an EPA (Exempt from State Personnel Act) position
in the Department of Forestry in the College of Natural Resources
of NC State University.
Qualifications:
MS or PhD (preferred) in Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, or related field.
The successful applicant must have experience in managing Environmental
Technology laboratories, be effective in written and oral communication,
be willing to teach and supervise undergraduate students, and be
willing to cooperate with other members of the faculty to achieve
the teaching objectives of the Environmental Technology program.
We seek an environmental professional with a broad portfolio of
applied skills, and prefer an individual with a track record of
applied experience in government or private labs or academia. Teaching
experience is desirable, but not required. Must have or be able
to obtain NC commercial driver’s license.
